The Beginning

So, here's my first attempt at a blog, I've been hounded by many and I've finally succumbed. Here's a little recap of what's been going on with us, Ava Marie Rigby was born to us on September 24th, 2007, a mere 7 days after her expected arrival. The week she turned one month old, I took a seemingly innocent ride on a Rhino with my dad, and ended up with a broken leg. Surgery, 13 screws, and 2 plates later, I was sent home on crutches and 6 weeks after that I was walking in a boot (Freedom at last!). It's been five weeks since I ditched the crutches and I just took the boot off this last weekend. Other than a little stiffness in my ankle, it's doing great. It looks like a shark attacked my ankle, and I think that's the story I'm going with from now on. I'm just letting you know on the off chance you unexpectedly catch a glimpse of it, at the least it will make you flinch and at the worst maybe throw up a little in your mouth. But the good news is, I'm one step closer to being normal (it's a long road for some people).

Ava had a lot of firsts...her First Thanksgiving, her First Christmas, her First Blessing....

We blessed Ava in Tooele in December, my mom made her dress, of course, and it was beautiful, of course.

We had a great Christmas this year, we spent some time in Tooele and Heber. Ava fell asleep before her second present was completely unwrapped, but I feel she really appreciated the gesture. We came back in time for New Years and spent that with some of our friends in Cedar. Matt has just started his last semester at SUU, he'll graduate as an RN with his Bachelor's Degree in May and then we'll be heading up to the Salt Lake-ish area for a while before he heads on to more schooling. We're pretty excited to reach the first milestone anyway. Ava is starting to giggle and it makes my whole day when she does. I find myself doing everything I can to try to make her laugh and most the time I just end up getting blank looks from her or what I call courtesy smiles. From what I can gather, she's trying to decide if her placement in our family is a permanent thing or if there's still a way out. Little does she know...
