I DID IT!!!!!

I did it!! Four days before Ava turns one and 11 months (to the day) after my "run-in" with The Rhino, I finished the Top of Utah Marathon. My time isn't much to brag about, but I made my goal. I wanted to finish under 5 hours and I did, so I was thrilled. I ran with my mom the whole time and it was so much fun. She totally helped me the last few miles, I wouldn't have made it without her. She could have easily run it a whole lot faster but she stayed with me and it made it so much fun. We have been able to do pretty much all our long training runs together and I have LOVED it! It gave us so much time to just talk and run and spend time together and then to be able to run a marathon with her, it was just really cool!

So, after burning over 3,000 calories, we went to a Cafe Rio in Logan and had some guilt-free lunch, then I hobbled back to the car and we headed home. I can't even explain the sense of accomplishment finishing a marathon can give you. I worked so hard training, that it was so fun to finally do it. I don't know that I'll be signing up for another one any time soon. I think that's like asking someone who just had a baby when the next one will be coming, but I think that maybe, eventually, it could be a future ambition once more. More likely, there will be some 1/2 marathon's scattered in between. Esther, my sis-in-law/old roomie/bestest friend ran it too, but she was a little faster than me, so when we had to stop for a potty break at mile 3, she went ahead and we met her at the end. My dad ran it too, and came in a little after us. It really was an awesome experience!

This was Ava and Maddie (Esther's little girl) waiting for us to come across the finish line)

And now I'm off to sit in the hot-tub so I can hopefully get in and out of the chairs at church tomorrow with minimal groaning! :)
