Summer Fun

So, I'm officially a once-a-month blogger, and I can pretend that I'll try to do better, but really, who am I kidding, so here's another marathon of pictures and updates.

This just shows that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree..

Stansbury Days was August 15th, and I think it is the funnest day of the summer. It rivals the fourth of July for me! My mom, two brother-in-laws, and sister Charity and I started out the day by competing in the Sprint Triathlon, where my Brother-in-law Mike won by a landslide, my amazing Mom, took 2nd in women's overall, my other brother-in-law Adam, took first in his age group and I took first in my age group. It was raining and lightning so it was a little scary to get in the water and then the roads were wet, so like 10 people biffed it on corners, and even given my history on bikes, I amazingly, wasn't one of those 10 people. It was a lot of fun though. Then after nap time, the festivities began. My niece and nephew raced in the paddleboat race and took second place. My mom and dad raced in the Regatta and took second place and most of the nieces and nephews participated in the frog jumping contest...
Ava named her frog Riddup (her version of Ribbit) and when they tried to get it to jump, it turned around and jumped right at them. It was pretty funny. That night they had some amazing fireworks that we all watched from my sisters backyard. See what I mean? Totally rivals the fourth of July, I love Stansbury Days!!

This is my haul on the couponing at Alberstons, it was a couple weeks ago but was by far the best I've ever done, so I had to document it. Not pictured here are four 1/2 gallons of ice cream and two packages of Klondike bars and the grand total....just under $20. It was an AWESOME sale. I will be forever indebted to my awesome sister Charity for teaching me the ways of the coupon ladies.
These next pictures are proof that I'm crazy. My sister found these passes you could be online, the Connect Pass, and kids 3 and under are free, and adults were $20, and for that, you got admission to a whole list of museums and places around Salt Lake, but you had two days to use the pass, and it had to be two consecutive days. So with a grand total of 10 kids and 5 adults, we set off on our adventure. The first day we went to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving Point and after lunch we went to the Living Planet Aquarium. The next day, we started off with a 3-D movie at the Planetarium, which was pretty cool! (and also included in the pass) and then we went to the Discovery Museum in Gateway. That Discovery Museum was AWESOME!! They were there for the majority of the day and all the kids loved it, there were so many things for them to do!!!

This is at the end of the two days, after the Discovery Museum (the kids look a lot happier here, than the parents who are behind the cameras :)

The discovery museum has a little play house that has a kitchen and living room in it.

This is Ava singing Twinkle Twinkle in the pretend recording studio at the Discovery Museum.

This was on Day 2, she finally sleeps...but not for long!

This was the first day, as we entered the first museum...all in all, it was a lot of fun, and even though it was crazy, I'd do it again! So, this is Ava getting ready to go to bed. I've never met a little kid with such a shoe fetish. She has to pick out shoes to sleep with. This was a mild night, a lot of times, she ends up with four or five different shoes, and then when we go to check on her, she's put on some of them. When we were at the Dinosaur Museum, the last room you go in is a big sandbox type place that they can play in, well, Ava hates the feel of sand, so we go in there and all the kids start running to the sandbox area and Ava gets all excited and runs over to where they've all taken off their shoes and starts trying on shoes. It was pretty funny!

This is her sleeping, with the shoes successfully on.

After a day of swimming in Nanny's lake.

Getting ready to go swimming, I do realize they are in reverse order, but I think you'll get the idea.

So, there's my marathon update. I can't believe summer is almost over and school has started again. It's so crazy how fast time flies!

Hey, I read about you and your super star family in the newspaper. Good job on the triathlon, you know, taking first place in your age group and not rupturing a spleen or liver or anything:)

You are such a great mommy! Sad but true I've never taken my kids to the museum or discovery gateway. What a bad mommy. But they get tons of backyard time :) Looks like you have had a fun summer!

First off, Stansbury days looks like a lot of fun and an official Desmond family affair.
Second, WOW on the coupon haul. I need you to teach me the art of using a coupon. The only coupons that ever do me any good are the Babies r us ones because you really can save big bucks there.
three, I actually heard about that pass and I have taken my classes to discovery gateway for field trips. (Note to self-you can also eat at spaghetti factory and your kids for free if they have read five books.)
It does not matter if you are a once a month blogger-you are an every day adventurer! Well done.

I wasn't going to leave a comment because I don't know if you will ever get it. I love the story of the sandbox and shoes. I love that she sleep with shoes. My kid tries to take the pastry brush to bed with him.
